Chamber Meeting Minutes - April 1, 2009
Attendance: Judy Tripodi- Chair, Tim Gannon, Abbey Albrecht, Richard Pleines, Carrie Sassi, Eileen Boulay, Susan Flynn  Ann Pellegrini, Dorothy Wright, Tom Houpert & Sue Gumbart

Treasurer’s Report: To be reviewed at the Annual Meeting.

Minutes: The March minutes were reviewed. 2 changes made. A motion was made to accept the March minutes. The motion was accepted.

Old Business:
April Annual Meeting:  All set for Wed. April 22nd 6:30- 8:30 pm at Running Brook Farm. BOD’s will bring the snacks and beverages. 

May Social:  Dale and Judy met with Frank Vumback from The Country Squire.  He graciously agreed to host the Social on  Thurs May 28th  6:30- 8:30 pm. He reviewed suggestions for appetizers, having a cash bar and bringing own cookie tray for dessert. The BOD would like to keep cost at $5.00 per person.  Dorothy has arranged for her client to speak about his new book on leadership and offer a book signing. Will touch base with Frank re: cost.

June Social: Brian  Fitzsimmons from The Killingworth Equestrian Center has reviewed some available dates in June. BOD will like to check the dates for High School Graduation and their activities to make sure they do not coincide.
Earth Week Clean up Day: Ann gave up date and is working hard on coordinating this community wide event. Peg set up sign up sheet on Killingworth Today. The girl scouts and boy scouts will be participating.

RSD 17 Administrators: Judy received  email from Ernest Nagler on date for BOD’s meeting with Ernest, Superintendent Mala, and Tracey Whaples. They would like to meet at the May 13th BOD’s meeting. Will ask Ernest to send ideas on agenda prior to meeting. Some BOD have worked with students as mentors in the past and really enjoyed it. Idea of Jr. Achievement and encouraging businesses to be part of the Speakers Bureau also mentioned.

Updates: Receiving updates for on line  directory listings. Fiona will send updates to Peg monthly. A member said   not receiving correspondence.(although Ann has received return emails from secretary of the business ) Not all labels have  name of business owner or point person on them, for larger member businesses  not sure  if correspondence getting to the right person. Dorothy will check labels to make sure name of owners/ point person are on them as well as name of business.

Reminder that Krier meeting is Thurs  April 30th

Eileen said she spoke with the HKHS counselor reminding about the  upcoming Chamber Presidents award selection.

New Business:
Source:  The Source has offered to have a free Killingworth Chamber Page quarterly (beginning end of April) to highlight our events, have pictures and highlight new member businesses. It is not for advertising businesses. Judy will only send new members for this month and calendar of events. Deadline is this Friday.

Postal permit: Renew month of April.( 1st renewal for Chamber’s own permit number) Will check if automatically billed.
